Police investigate after two shootings in Sydney’s west – The West Australian

Two men are recovering in the same hospital after they were both gunned down in Sydney’s west overnight.
Emergency services were called to Cabramatta after a 40-year-old man was shot in the chest in his Park Rd apartment shortly before 11.15pm on Tuesday.
The man was treated at the scene by NSW paramedics before being rushed to Liverpool Hospital in a stable condition.
Fairfield City Police Area Command Detective Superintendent Glenn Fitzgerald said police believe the attack was “deliberate” and “targeted”, and that the man was known to police.
“Any incident involving a firearm is very disturbing,” he said.
“It’s still very early in the inquiries; we believe this was a targeted attack. The person is known to police.
“Other than the fact that we know that he was shot when he was inside his apartment, that’s the information we’ve got at this stage.”
Fairfield City Police officers established a crime scene and have begun an investigation into the incident.
Police cordoned off the surrounding area as they probed the scene and took forensic pictures.
Meanwhile, a man in his 20s was shot in the leg around 6.20am on Wednesday in Liverpool, with a crime scene established on Charles St.
He was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to Liverpool Hospital in a stable condition.
Superintendent Fitzgerald said whether the two shootings were linked would form part of their investigation.
“It’s always a part of any investigation, to look at any links,” he said.
“I’m aware of the matter … at this stage nothing has been discounted.”
Police have urged any witnesses, anyone with information or anybody with CCTV or dashcam footage in the nearby area to come forward.
