The Goulburn River is expected to peak at a record 12.2 metres today, with over 8000 homes and businesses under threat in the Shepparton area.
Residents in Shepparton, Mooroopna, Orrvale, Murchison and Kialla West have been told it is too late to leave due to rising floodwaters.
Shepparton Mayor Shane Sali says floodwaters have cut off residents’ access to the properties, making it impossible for them to assess the damage.
